While his roots are in the stage and hairdressing, Michael St. Michaels (Michael Rappaport) has carved a cinematic niche in fringe classics like THE VIDEO DEAD (1987), and most notably, THE GREASY STRANGLER (2016). It was GREASY that brought Michael to the masses as Big Ronnie, an uncompromising oily food-obsessed dad by day, disco dancing murderous monster by night. And then there’s the “big mouses’s head” and frequent trips to the car wash. It is an unforgettable turn in one of the most bizarre, wonderfully original films in recent history, and Michael is the heart of it all. We touch on GREASY, what led him to hairdressing (a certification he only recently let lapse), the ups and downs of getting by in the business, and how life can be turned around in your 70s.Radio Hour Patreon - lots of rewards including vintage horror mags, movies, bonus episodes, live events, and more!

Director Dwight Little is the man behind the return of Michael Myers in HALLOWEEN 4, he helmed the beautiful and gory PHANTOM OF THE OPERA starring Robert Englund, and has traversed the television landscape in shows like MILLENNIUM, FROM DUSK TILL DAWN, and BONES. He is the only filmmaker to direct both Freddy Krueger (FREDDY’S NIGHTMARES) and The Shape (HALLOWEEN 4). He has traveled the world, shooting everywhere from the rivers of Fiji to the jungles of India, and here we go deep in a career-spanning conversation full of fascinating stories from the trenches. Filmmakers Bryan Woods and Scott Beck are Iowa natives and two of the hottest names in cinema today. They most recently wrote and produced A QUIET PLACE, which was released to critical acclaim and has grossed over $340 million worldwide. A QUIET PLACE was named as a Top Ten Film of 2018 by the American Film Institute and the National Board of Review. Beck & Woods’ script earned them nominations with the Writers Guild and the Critics Choice Awards (which they just won for best horror/scifi picture), and was named one of the year’s ten best scripts by The Tracking Board Hit List. The duo is currently in post-production on the thriller HAUNT, which they wrote and directed for producer Eli Roth, Sierra/Affinity, Broken Road Productions, and Nickel City Pictures. They are also writing THE BOOGEYMAN for 20th Century Fox and 21 Laps, based on Stephen King’s iconic short story of the same name.
We discuss their shared travels in cinema, how they have made their way in the business with humility, the art of collaboration, and they share the stories behind A QUIET PLACE and what predated that monstrous hit. A great, inspiring conversation with good friends.Radio Hour Patreon - lots of rewards including vintage horror mags, movies, bonus episodes, live events, and more!

Actor Eric Freeman stepped into the lead role of Ricky Caldwell in SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT PART 2 in 1987, following the controversy of the first film with one of the most debated sequels in genre history. As clips of his delivery of “garbage day” were becoming the stuff of internet legend, Freeman was out of the business fighting personal battles far from the big screen, oblivious to the cult following SNDN2 was amassing. Several years ago he emerged at a screening in Los Angeles, and most recently was instrumental in the deluxe Shout Factory blu-ray that is overflowing with documentaries and new material celebrating this cult classic. Eric and I chatted about his life before, during, and after his turn as Ricky, the health scare that almost ended it all, his script for a sequel to SNDN2, stepping back in to Caldwell’s shoes for one of the unique special features on the new blu-ray, and much more.
